20-minute duet
Choreography by BJP
Music by Austen Mack
Lighting Design by Evan Anderson
Costume Design by BJP
Performance by Maggie Beutner and Léla Groom

In BJP’s “Vinegar Spirit”, two become one as this dual ‘solo’ contorts through the act of self discovery. Fused figure(s) trek through a hypnotic metamorphosis with the hyper-precision of a cheer team and the physical prowess of a superhero. Crimson waves surge through space and rhythmic rebounding unravels.

“Vinegar Spirit” began in 2016 through a creative residency at American University. Costumes were design and hand-fabricated in 2017, with a “rained -out” in-progress showing at at WAXworks in October 2017. The work will premiere it it’s entirety in Oct 2018.

Made possible through support by Bainbridge Dance Center, the Great River  Educational Arts Theatre, and the Mellon Fund through American University.
